Possible NBN Outage,,
 We have been given an warning of a possible outage to the Office NBN set for Friday 13th December 2024 from 00:00 to 06:00, As we know these times could change and the date too but we will update here if there is still going to be an outage or anything changes.
 These outages are done mostly by NBN them selfs and are due to them needing to do a software update on there network.

3G to 4G Upgrade,
 We are posting this here as there is still people having problems upgrading to 4G calls, The biggest problem we have seen that is a quick fix is how old is the SIM card, replacing the old sim (older then 2 years old) has fixed many people's service without upgrading there devices, also making sure VOLTE is on in the settings too,
 But to note: Data only sim's are not needed to be replaced, if your provider has blocked a data only device then call them and demand it unblocked as its data only.

 This office will be closed from Thursday 14th Nov 2024 till Thursday 21st Nov 2024
 This means that there will still be phone support but no site visits (Unless its a emergency one and so a travel fee will be charged).

 ACSC has issued a warning to anyone that uses "FortiManager" as there is a huge vulnerability,

 Our main link provider has stated they will be doing a planned Network Upgrade/Outage on Tuesday 29th Oct 2024 between the hours of 01:00 to 03:00, They state the duration is 1hr, but has taken a 2hr window just in case.

 When was the last time you did a Web Browser UPDATE, 99% of the Web Browsers have a zero-day vulnerability, this is also on all OS including Phone and Tablets too.
 For Most computer browsers if you go to "Help" then "About" it will show you the current version and if there is an update.

 Mains Power has been restored (5 Hours down), Still no update from supply company on cause (Still 170 without power).

 The outage was a core update at POI centre as all of there 5 links was down for this short time in the same centre.

 As this was not a priority (As it was a 500 error with no access via web) it took some time to trace down the problem. one of the firewall settings broke the access (30000 Lines of code), we reverted that file change back to last working and all started to work then found the problem and fixed it , all back to normal.

 We are looking into this problem as it was also updated 30min before the outage.

 We have been updated that the NBN outage booked in for 2nd Aug For our office has been canceled.

 There was an update done on this site that took it off line (Only this site), after looking into this we had to revert back to a backup then do a few updates to bring it back online with all the updated info,
 We have contacted the software maker about this as the current fix was meant to fix the same problem that the fix before hand but has caused new ones,
 We have locked out this update to keep a stable website for now.
AGAIN This Only Caused Problem To This Site, No Others.

Microsoft machine's error B.S.O.D. Update,
 Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) has issued a alert about this problem, they have a link on there page to the Crowdstrike problem, Click here for the link.

 Well its still not good but some computers are coming back online, Crowdstrike as with many other people have found a workaround but this is at the Top IT access only.

 We was given warning of a possible error in a MS update, this update came in at 03:00 but was only on the BATA Update for servers and so should not have efected any MS Servers, but knowing some people it might.

Server Upgrade,
 We are looking into a server upgrade for our main hosting server, to note if this upgrade goes ahead there will be a few changes
 The first is all IP's will change as its more a move to another server, Also to note; Emails and Websites might be down for up to a few hours
 We will contact our clients via email when we have know of the move date, but once all is moved some items will have changed including data caps increased, Website's loading faster and so much more.
Tho to note: We will not do the move till we know for sure it will better us all.

New Accounts system Update,
 (From 30-Jun-2024) We have change our accounts system and its live now,
 (Today) All accounts was sent out today without to much problems.
 We do know of a 500 error that might pop up on page access, we are working with upstream as its just the server is taking its time to process the info and so we get a 500 error, but to note this error goes within a min or two and so a simple page refresh is all that is needed to continue.

New Accounts system,
 We have change our accounts system and its live now,
 Over the last few weeks we have moved all accounts over to the new system and now have it live, from what we have tested there is no bugs in it and all has moved to this system without too much problems,
 There is still a few changes needed to be done in it, but these are just "cosmetic changes", so as of Today all invoices will be sent from this server.
 We will post updates here if we see a problem, But to note: This system has some high security settings on and so not all the work can access the system.

 All Wordpress websites that we have management with or That we have setup the auto updates to ON, was force to update to the latest version of Wordpress today due to security,
 We take security to a high standard and so when these updates come out we take notice and make sure our customers are as safe as posible,

 We have heard from MUCH higher ups that many places lost IPv6 routes, our office was online but some places like USA and UK could not route to us, we are still waiting on a full report but since all is working it might not be a quick one.

 It looks to have been a routing issue that locked out the links for over a week ago, as the status logs show it has been down for over a week but we had not received an error from the system so we are setting up more alarms to monitor the phones just encase this ever happens again.

 We have received a notice that the office Phone lines are down, we are looking into the problem.

 The update did not go to plan and so we had to roll it back to the last working hardware, we are looking into why it failed.

 We have started the update with the router so the hole network is down.

Email Problems,
 We have seen people having problems sending emails to Microsoft domains, including "Hotmail.com, Outlook.com," we are looking into it but MS thinks all emails from our server's is spam and so will not remove it, they also state they are right and every one else is wrong, another words they are blocking emails to them as they think its spam and will not remove with out legal action, for us we are looking into how to get them to fix there side but it takes time.

Office Server Update,
 It took time to get into the power management of the server as for some reason it was not config, but from its logs it state there is a processor problem but it also states there is no problem too, but we also having a problem on the Nic in one port.
We have put in a order for a new core router that will also help us do better logging and problem finding too, once it arrives we will config and install, this will cause a small outage to the office but it should be minimal, but will update here when we are ready to install.

 We are still looking into it, but from what we can tell was one of the Network cards went into panic mode and so the server just rebooted, the long time to come online was due to the firewall loosing its settings, its also being looked into but it thinks one of the interfaces are down tho they are not, We are looking at a replacement, possible server upgrade too, for now all is stable.

 It took some time to get it back online but its up for now.

 For some reasion the server had just rebooted, but we can see there is a error on the server and once we get it up we will look into the problem more.

IPv6 to OVH network Down & Latency Update,
 OVH also saw the problem but was the reason for today's outage, they did a "Network equipment migration" that was not set to be done till tomorrow, but this also fixed all the IPv6 problems to there systems too.

 We requested a update from all upstream as they too saw the outage in there logs, but for now its back up and on the right route with latency down again as its not routing via Singapore to come back to Sydney for OVH.

 We are looking into it.

 We don't know what happened but have asked upstream to look into there BGP logs.

High IPv6 latency,
 We are seeing some high latency on IPv6 to some sites, we have contacted upstream and hope they look into it soon, but from our end it looks to be at Equinix as we are being routed via Equinix Sydney to Equinix Singapore to comeback to Sydney OVH.

 This page some how lost all its info (Blank Page), we are looking into it but think it could have been one of the automated scripts that update this page.

Office NBN IPv6 Back on line,
 A strange thing was IPv6 took longer to come back online, all data over IPv4 was working but not IPv6 till now, upstream provider is looking into it on there end as this should not have happened.

 Well it took lest time then stated, but we also saw that it was a Core outage as the modem stayed connected to the FTTN but not to the provider.

ACSC Warning for Outlook Program,
 ACSC is tracking a remote code execution vulnerability in Microsoft Office Outlook products.
CVE-2024-21413 refers to a vulnerability that exploits the Outlook preview pane as an attack vector.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability would allow the threat actor to bypass the Office Protected View.
A threat actor who has successfully exploited this vulnerability could gain high privileges, including, read, write and delete functionality.
This vulnerability affects customers running the following Microsoft products:
 
Microsoft Office 2016
Microsoft Office LTSC 2021
Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise
Microsoft Office 2019
 
ACSC is not aware of active exploitation of CVE-2024-21413 at this time.

We have recommend you DON'T have the any email preview pane on EVER.
This goes back all the way back to EARLY 2Ks as it was and still is the worst function around, as it always allowed for a attack of a computer.
The first attacks all the way back was virus then malware, even with the best Antivirus &/or Malware programs installed.
 
So please turn off the preview pane function on any email program and also make sure all programs are up to date too.

 We have been given notice of possible Optus outages for the area around the Office for 15th Feb 2024 (Today) till 28th Feb 2024 to note, this will not affect any of our network as but just customers close to the office that use Optus.

 We have been given notice of a planned NBN outage for the Office for 20th Feb 2024 from 02:00 to 04:00 but it may be only a 30min outage, during this time the office will be on our backup link but parts of our service will be effected including our main office phones and some hosting, but being so early it will come back before most will ever see it.

Added Service,
 We have added to all our customers that are hosted on our main server through cPanel a service/feature called "Site Quality Monitoring", this will help us &/or the customer to find problems in a website quickly and fix them ASAP.

 By the logs it looks like the local NBN FTTN received a port change request, we have contacted upstream and they are looking into the reason for the request as we had not done one but also see the pingtimes changed too so it also liiks to have been a NBN direct change that caused the outage but hope to get a report.

Website Software Security Updates, (For added context),
 Some of the updates we saw was to both Joomla and Wordpress to name a few, but also many sites needed to have there PHP updated to a supported version for the current updated software too, for our customers most was done before hand but we did see a few sites had to be changed.

 All is online and working like they should, tho some sites had a major update and so this may have caused a few things to look different on there website (Eg Text or Menu Colour), For sites we don't directly manage the designer will need to update to fix a few problems, much is because the site doesn't use a child layouts.
For sites we directly manage we have made sure there sites look like it was before the update, but most didn't have an update as they was already up to date.
